Decide Slowly is a small portfolio of decision tools for the kind of life questions that don't resolve into a clean answer no matter how hard you try to think about them. Quitting your job. Having a child. Retiring early. Each of those decisions has a real arithmetic side that most people get wrong because they avoid working it out, and a non-arithmetic side that the rest of the internet tries to dress up as math anyway.

The tools here split those two halves apart honestly.

The arithmetic half is real. If a tool says you have 7.4 months of runway, that number came from a savings figure you entered divided by a burn rate you entered. There is no model behind the scenes, no projection, no probability. You can trace every number back to an input. That kind of math doesn't require sophistication — it requires not lying about what the math is doing.

The reflection half is your own answers reflected back to you. If a tool asks you to rate how depleted you feel from your job on a scale of 1 to 10, that answer doesn't get fed into a regret algorithm. It gets shown back to you next to the financial picture, so you can see the trade-off without it being laundered into a confidence score. We don't think there is a sincere version of a regret algorithm, and we'd rather refuse to build one than pretend.

What this site deliberately won't do

• No regret percentages, confidence scores, or asymmetry indices. Any single number that claims to summarize a life decision is a number we invented. We don't invent numbers.
• No countdowns, exit popups, or alarm-red urgency. The whole point is the opposite of urgency.
• No SEO spam. There are exactly the pages you see in the menu, and that's the entire site.
• No advice. Each tool's after page suggests talking to a human you trust, or a professional, about the actual decision. A calculator is a thinking aid, not a counselor.

Who made this

One person, working slowly and deliberately, with the help of a careful AI collaborator. The site runs on Astro, deploys via Cloudflare, and stores nothing about you. It will eventually carry ads (Google AdSense) above and below the tools, never inside them, because that is the part of the business model that pays for the hosting and the time. Ads will not appear in the middle of your result, because the most basic respect a tool can give you is not interrupting the answer you came for.

Why "decide slowly"

Because most of the decisions worth making this much effort over are not the kind that improve when you rush them. The arithmetic is fast. The reflection is slow. Both deserve their actual amount of time.
